The Shomron Council
sits between the Green Line and the Jordan River
The Shomron, Biblical Samaria, begins at the "green line" in the foothills 15 miles east of Tel Aviv and stretches to the hills overlooking the Jordan Valley and north to Mount Gilboa, over 1,000 square miles (2,800 sq. km.) in all. The area makes up 10 % of the land of Israel.
The Shomron Development Fund works in conjunction with the Shomron Regional Council, the largest municipal government in Israel, encompassing 33 widely dispersed settlements of all sizes totaling 20,000 residents. An additional 35,000 residents live in seven independent municipalities in the region, including Ariel, Elkana and Karnei Shomron.
Like other communities across Israel, we can not rely on government funds only to meet all of our needs. Because of this, the Shomron Regional Council often finds itself unable to offer the basic services and support that its residents require.
The Shomron Development Fund attempts to fill this void.We must look beyond the government and even the borders of Israel for help. The need for education, security measures, cultural activities, and medical and social services is clear and great. The families of the Shomron need your help.
