| Project #15 |
An in-home early warning system for residents
Often, the information is disseminated by siren or loudspeaker. But these methods could tip the terrorists off to what the community security service and the military forces are up to. The warning of an impending attack on a particular community is often received from military intelligence sources a very short time before the attack itself begins. For this reason, it is imperative that all households receive the necessary information to enable them to prepare themselves as quickly as possible. We are working to install a unique telephone system in every home which would transmit emergency messages quickly and directly. Alerts will be sent directly to homes by the Shomron Regional Council Information Center or by the security coordinator of the community itself. All of the messages can be sent simultaneously and will be received within seconds. In addition, the emergency response team of each community will be supplied with beepers to call them into action in the event of an attack. We still need to raise enough funds to install this system in the communities that have been most hard-hit by terrorist infiltrations: Alon Moreh and Itamar. We also need to install the system in the communities that surround the Palestinian city of Nablus: Yitzhar, Har-Bracha, Homesh, Migdalim, Tapuach, Rechalim and Shavei Shomron. The entire cost of this project is US $260,000. The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command has agreed to provide matching funds up to $130,000, effectively doubling all of your contributions. Here's how you can help:
